People like to know exactly what’s going on. We tend to be wordy. We tend to be over-descriptive with everything because we’re afraid if we leave out just one adjective we’ll never get our point across. We like details and we like knowing every facet of what’s happening around us. There’s no such thing as a nosy neighbor, just a well-informed one.

Insurance can also be wordy. Insurance can go through page after page of six-syllable jargon and the point still doesn’t get across to the average person. Being a somewhat average person, I was asked to write about Florida commercial insurance and make it make sense. After scouring for days over blogs, articles, and magazines I still had no answers… so I went directly to the agents.

Commercial insurance is complex, confusing, and somewhat overwhelming. Don’t dive into it on your own. Depending on your type of business, the insurance you’ll need to cover everything will change. From the type of equipment you’ll be using to the dynamic of customers you’ll be serving, every detail counts. Do what I did:

  1. Talk to your agent!

  2. Talk to your agent!

  3. Talk to your agent!

If you have an agent you can never get in touch with, or you feel like they’re dodging your questions it’s very important for you to request a new agent or find a different company to work with. Agents are here to give you peace of mind and make sure that you’re covered in all the areas you need to be. So make sure when you go over your business you don’t leave out the details. The more informed you make your agent, the better they’ll be able to help you. Life really is all about connections, and if you own a business, make your relationship with your insurance agent a priority.
